Since I now know the yogurt trick, I gave Aiden a yogurt with a straw for breakfast, and he sucked it down. He started on a second one but didn't get very far. He didn't want anything else we offered at breakfast. He still was running a low grade temp so when we met the group for our tour, I talked to the doctor about it. She told me he needed to start antibiotics today. As soon as I said I didn't think we should join the group, Aiden threw up on me.
We headed back up to the room to get cleaned up and to give Aiden his meds. He is such a trooper taking meds. He has to take 2 huge chewables and doesn't like it, but doesn't fight us.
Yesterday, we sent some of our laundry out to a service Shiyan recommended. Today, David cleaned the rest of our laundry in the tub. Our makeshift clothesline is in our bathroom. It looks like a scene out of Mission Impossible when we are trying to get through the bathroom going under and over lines of clothes hanging to dry.
Even though BinBin was sick, he didn't want to stay in the room. We spent the day roaming the halls of the hotel so he could have his stroller time.
There is a McDonald's across the road, so we went over there and got BinBin and Alana chicken nuggets and an ice cream cone. The cones here are gray and that freaked Alana out...but not enough to not eat the cone. Aiden took a few licks of his and made the cutest face every time. He had dozed off by the time we got back to the room, so we tried to lay him down but he wasn't having it. We offered him a chicken nugget. He does the cutest thing when we offer him things. He shakes his yes, then no, then yes, etc. He can't make up his mind fast enough. He took a few bites of the chicken nugget. He also ate a banana.
I contacted his specialist in Cincinnati this morning and she gave us a few things to try to help his bottom heal. She also told us she has a contact at the hospital here in Guangzhou if we need it. I pray we will not be visiting a hospital, but that is reassuring if we have to. I am so thankful to have the medical support we have in place.
It took me almost two hours to finally get Aiden to sleep. I almost hit my breaking point because he would not go to David. It was exhausting. He would doze off and as soon as I moved him, he would wake up. He did not want me to leave him. I finally got him to sleep on our bed, so I went to the pool to check on Alana who was there with Karis and her family. Forty-five minutes later, our little BinBin woke up. No good nap today.
There was a meeting David had to go to with Shiyan to make sure our paperwork was ready for our consulate appointment on Monday, so I took Aiden swimming. I didn't get any pictures of him in his adorable swimsuit which just means we will have do go again tomorrow. He was very hesitant to get in the water. We sat on the side of the pool for a while just splashing. Then he got in with me. He was typical Aiden and didn't smile or play, he just clung to me and kept his head on my shoulder. Still, he is much lighter in the pool than out, so I enjoyed it. I got to talk with my friend Julie who was in the pool with her new son. It was very relaxing.
We got cleaned up and went to supper in the hotel instead of with our group. Aiden was still running a fever. After dinner, we walked to the Starbucks in our hotel and got a cookie for us all to share. Oh how BinBin loves chocolate. He loved that chocolate chip cookie so much, that we bought another one. I think that cookie was all the medicine he needed. When we got back to the room to get him ready for bed, he didn't have a fever anymore! David got out a toy that his nannies gave us that sings songs in Chinese. He played and laughed with David and that toy for 20 minutes! This was music to our ears. He and David got to spend some good time together! We hope he gets great rest tonight and is still fever free in the morning!
I'm leaving you with yet another specific request. As you may have heard, the visa computer system shut down and left many adoptive families stranded here in Guangzhou waiting on their child's visas. Shiyan told us today it started working again but only until midnight Friday night. Hopefully they will get caught up quickly, if not, we also could be delayed in returning home. Financially and emotionally, we need to go home Wednesday. Please pray not only for us, but for all the families that this is affecting.
